Chloe Malone Burch Foreign Mission Fund Established
The Chloe Malone Burch Foreign Mission Fund has been established by the 2PC Foundation Board of Directors in memory of Chloe Malone Burch, an active member of Second Presbyterian Church and a strong advocate and supporter of world missions.
The Chloe Malone Burch Foreign Mission Fund is a consolidation of proceeds of a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust given by Chloe Burch naming the Foundation and a bequest from the will of her brother, Charles N. Burch.
Born in Memphis in 1912, Chloe graduated from St. Mary’s and Southwestern and worked for her uncle, Charles Burch who started the Burch, Porter & Johnson law firm. She then became a long-time teacher in the public schools until she retired and was especially dedicated to teaching visually handicapped children. She was a devoted caregiver for two members of her family. Both Chloe and her brother were generous and constant contributors to missions in foreign countries during their lifetimes. The Foundation’s Board of Directors elected to establish this endowment fund in the honor of Chloe Malone Burch who decided to give to the Foundation as a way to make a lasting contribution to foreign missions.
Ron Sadlow, head of Second’s World Missions department, explains how the Foundation uses gifts such as these to multiply and expand foreign missions’ endeavors. He states, “The Second Presbyterian Church Foundation has taken on some strategic and unique opportunities in World Missions. With large, timely gifts, they have enabled the gospel to be extended beyond normal frontiers of mission work. This has included unreached peoples in Armenia, Cambodia, Far East Russia, and India among others. In addition, they have helped fund needed biblical and church plantertraining in the emerging church around the world. Their contribution to advancing the gospel around the world serves a critical need.”
The Chloe Malone Burch Foreign Mission Fund has been established in the amount of $212,000 that will be used solely for the purpose of supporting the work of the Foundation in making grants to ministry efforts in foreign countries.
The Foundation is able to accept additional donations to the Chloe Malone Burch Foreign Mission Fund. If you would like to make a contribution, please contact Vicki Simmons at 454-0034, ext. 193 or .
