WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE FOUNDATION DO?

The short answer is that it advances the gospel in partnership with our church and its mission.

How does it accomplish this goal?

The Foundation is largely entrepreneurial in its philosophy toward funding ministries. It seeks those leveraging opportunities for the sake of the gospel.

The resources needed for all of the grants it makes are housed in funds. There are many types of funds. Some are undesignated and some are designated. Some are designed so that only the annual earnings are available to spend, while others allow for the entire balance to be spent.

While there are close to 40 total funds, they can be divided into the categories of scholarship, mission, and mission at Second.

What you will find here, in this FUNDation Strong news section, are articles that take a deep dive into the who, the what, the why, and the when of these funds; the money given to each fund and granted from each fund; the history of the fruit of the fund; and an impactful story of specific individuals who have benefitted from each fund along the way.

Our church’s one earthly Foundation is $35 million strong—due to many individual funds. The individual funds are strong due to their one Foundation.  Both are possible only through the Church’s one Foundation—Jesus Christ her Lord.
